7 Ways to Style Sheepskin Around Your Home

7 Ways to Style Sheepskin Around Your Home

Our name may not make this clear, but at The Wool Company, we love Sheepskin (The Wool & Sheepskin Company didn’t have quite the same ring to it).

Why? Because Sheepskin shares many of the same properties as wool: warmth, softness, and - of course - luxuriousness. Beyond these, sheepskin is uniquely perfect for home décor due to its versatility and timeless appeal.

Thanks to its versatility, sheepskin is a rare furnishing that can be used in almost any room in the home to add a touch of elegance. Here are seven of our favourite ways to incorporate sheepskin into your home, for a little bit of added comfort, luxury and timeless style.

1. The Perfect Focal Point: Elevate Your Living Room

Our larger sheepskin rugs can serve as a focal point in your living room, adding a layer of texture and luxury. Position it under a coffee table or in front of a fireplace for a chic, stylish look.

Landing on a Curly Sheepskin is the surest way to start your morning with a gleeful ‘aah’.

They work just as well in bedrooms. There’s no better start to the day than landing on a soft and warm sheepskin rug after jumping out of bed. The natural insulation properties of sheepskin make it perfect for keeping toes toasty.

2. Better Bedding For Blissful Nights

Speaking of bedding, a born and bred British sheepskin throw can make the perfect accent bedspread. Layer it at the foot of your bed for added warmth and a touch of luxury. On particularly nippy nights, it can be used for another layer of warmth, thanks to its natural temperature-regulating properties. Who needs a weighted blanket?

3. Cosy Chair Covers: Comfort and Elegance Combined

Sheepskin Seat Pads are a practical addition to any seat, bar stool, or sofa. Thanks to its almost magical properties, Sheepskin can give comfort instantly; by cushioning, warming, soothing, and instantly making you comfortable - in all seasons.

Warning: Our Undyed Icelandic Sheepskin Rugs may lead to a deep sleep.

Larger sheepskins can be draped over hard dining chairs or benches to add an instant touch of comfort and elegance. This not only makes seating more comfortable (especially the wooden variety!) but also adds the perfect chic look.

4. Joy For the Little Ones

Who says adults get to have all the sheepskin fun?

With our specially designed baby sheepskins that have been shorn down to 25-30mm all over to provide support and comfort for use in the cot, on the floor, your baby will enjoy a true sense of security that will enable them to settle quickly, even when in unfamiliar places.

What’s softer than a baby’s skin? Baby Sheepskins give them a run for their money.

The natural fibres are gentle on delicate skin and provide a cosy spot for tummy time or play. For new parents, the plush texture and natural warmth may make those many late-night feedings a bit more bearable. Our baby sheepskins are almost guaranteed to give both baby and you a better night's sleep.

5. Comfy Sofa Throws: Transform Your Living Room

Sofas are often difficult to spice up. With a long sheepskin over the back or arm, even the tattiest couches can look sophisticated - agreat strategy for older sofas  beginning to show a little wear and tear, that works just as well with new ones for added flair.

Combine sheepskin with other throws and cushions in different fabrics and colours to create a layered, textured effect. This adds depth and interest to your living space.

6. Plush Pet Beds

And what about our furry friends? We’re big believers that pets deserve just as much comfort as us humans do. Sheepskin shirks dirt and makes a luxurious pet bed. Pets love the softness and warmth, and it provides a comfortable resting spot for your furry friends.

Some have claimed our Sheepskins are too good for pet beds (we disagree!).

At Higher Hill Farm, our spaniel-cross insists his Padded Sheepskin Pet Bed is in front of the log burner - the quintessential hearthrug. All parties are happy - comfort for Monty, added style to our living room, and my knees cushioned from the stone flags when poking the fire.

7. Inviting Window Seats

Wide window ledges are difficult to decorate. Houseplants make a mess,  ornaments create clutter. A great option is to transform a window ledge to a cosy nook by adding a sheepskin throw or cushion, making an inviting spot to enjoy the view, read, or relax or ponder.

When it comes to sheepskin, at The Wool Company we believe more is more. Incorporating sheepskin into your home decor brings natural beauty, warmth, and a touch of luxury to any space. Whether used as a rug, throw, or cushion, sheepskin's versatility and comfort make it a perfect addition to your home.
